Woodlands website is a developing site and is being added to and updated regularly. Via the website we try to give you a flavour of our school – our children, our staff, our vision for the school, our priorities and our impacts.

Woodlands Primary is situated in the Gipton and Harehills area of Leeds. The Gipton and Harehills area is a dynamic multi cultural area and children and families deserve to have education which is the best. Woodlands Primary School seeks to be the best. Although we have made great progress as a school within the last 3 years in terms of achievement, standards, the quality of learning and teaching, the development of leadership at all levels, improved attendance and punctuality and improved curriculum, we still have some way to go to address the large numbers of children who still do not attain nationally expected standards. We need to be a place where every child can be happy, healthy, safe, secure and successful, a place where children achieve their best. If we are to be the best, we need to be constantly changing. We need to be examining the real needs of learners, we need to be looking at how children learn best, and we need to develop all aspects of the school around these needs. Our school needs to have learning at its heart. In order to do this we need to understand change. We need to become resilient. We need to be open, honest and transparent as practitioners in order that we have an accurate shared view of the quality of all aspects of our practice. We need to support one another, to develop teams, to further develop the capacity of everyone in the school as leaders. To enable children to achieve their potential, we need to be open to new ideas and continue to thrive on uncertainty and transformation, so that we can gradually transform all aspects of the school so each child has an education fine tuned to their needs.

We have a fantastic team – dynamic, forward thinking, optimistic, energetic. If we grow together, we can continue to make a greater difference to the lives of children and their families.
