Pocket Rockets are County Champions! The squad travelled to Thorpe Arch last Wednesday evening to take part in the West Yorkshire Girls seven a side Finals. Their opponents in the Final were Horton Park, a team near Bradford. The ‘Pocket Rockets’ performed brilliantly from start to finish and overwhelmed their opponents by four goals to one. Skipper, Emily , once again delivered the goods by hitting a hat trick, while Keavy bagged the other goal. They now progress to the next Stage of the National Competition at Blackburn on Saturday 28th February. It is the North of England Finals!! What an incredible achievement. Well done. As preparation for the Finals, the squad travelled to St. Theresa’s in Cross Gates for an eight a side match. Maya made her debut at this game and played very well. St. Theresa’s were physically strong and created some chances, however, due to our solid defence of Klaudia and Alice, their opportunities were rather limited. Once again, it was left to our attack force of Keavy and Emily to do the damage, scoring four past the hosts! Terrific performances from Kelsey, Lauren, Demi and Georgia helped the team on their way to another win. I have been particularly happy and encouraged with the support and help that has been offered by the Parents. Some of the games have been arranged at quite a late notice, but it has not deterred their availability to help. The squad and myself are thoroughly grateful.
All the best to the Pocket Rockets in Blackburn. D.Kane.
Year 2 Gymnastics
7 of our year 2 pupils went to a Gymnastics Festival at Wetherby High School, to compete against two other schools. All the children worked extremely hard and we went on to win the most creative performance award.
Athletics Squad
The team performed extremely well in both rounds of the Sportshall Athletics Challenge but did not quite reach the quarter finals. The year 5/6 girls were very impressive and won most of their races. Some of the girls will have another chance next year.
Football-Under 11 boys.
The boys played well in the ESFA Leeds area 7-a-side, but were squeezed out of the competition by Strawberry Fields. The match against Corpus Christi ended with a 2-2 draw in what was a very lively encounter. Ewan scored our first goal and a very excited Liam volleyed in our second.Callum and Walter were both outstanding in this match.

The 'Pocket Rockets' claimed the title on Saturday 17th January after beating Deighton Gates of Wetherby in the final. On the way, the girls overcame Strawberry Fields 4-1 and also saw off Rothwell St. Marys 1-0. Our captain was in inspiring form, scoring all of our goals. Mr. Kane is extremely proud of their efforts and hopefully their determination and fearless attitude will motivate them in the West Yorks Finals.
