PARENTS AND FRIENDS ASSOCIATION
Minutes of the last meeting
Parent Friends Association (PFA)
The PFA is a group of people who are actively involved in the life of the school. It consists of everybody from mums, dads, grandparents to carers, teachers and friends. One thing we all have in common is the interest of the children who attend out school and the school itself.
Throughout the academic year, we work together planning and running events to provide memorable experiences for the children and to raise funds. These funds are put back into the school to directly benefit the children. Here are a few examples of the types of events we run:-
Themed Discos (Easter and Hallowe’en)
Leavers Disco (Year 6)
Christmas Gift Shop
Summer Fair
Friday Tuck Shop
Social Evening
Magic Show
Designing Christmas Cards
Nearly New Clothes
and here are a few examples of how the money was spent:-
Prizes for children who gain 50 and 100 team points/house points
Year 6 Leavers Disco
New curtains/blinds around school
Musical Instruments
Staging to allow the children to hold concerts
Books for the Library
£100 for each class to spend
We hold meetings once or twice a term to discuss arrangements and make plans. Both Mr Elstub (Headteacher) and Mrs Hardaker (Assistant Headteacher) attend these meetings as they believe it is important to listen to parents and discuss their ideas and views. There is no pressure to attend all of these meetings and help at every event; we all lead busy lives so we appreciate peoples’ limitations. Every single minute spent helping the PFA really does count towards raising monies for the school and the children.
If you would like to learn more about the PFA, please speak with Mrs Hardaker, Mr Brian Taylor (Year 4 Grandparent), Mrs Christine Holdsworth (works in the school office), Mrs Anne Taylor (works in Year 3), Mrs Bugler (Year 2 teacher), Mrs Allyson Smith (Year 6 parent), Mrs Janet Clark (Year 4 parent), Mrs Pam Sharpe (Year 3 parent). Alternatively you can leave your telephone number at the school office and someone will call you back.
We are a friendly, informal group of people and feel sure you would enjoy being part of our happy team.
